January

This month has gone by fast but sometimes slow. I'm down 10.8 pounds for January! Happy dance. 39.2 to my 50 pound goal for Pound For Pound pledge.
https//www.pfpchallenge.com/ Goal for February is more activity.

This month Patrick went on a business for a few days and turned 39. Yes, 39! I need to figure out what to do for the big 4-0. I've asked him what he wanted to do and he has no clue. I need to start planning his mom's 60th that is in July. We would really like to send her on a trip but not sure that will happen? Anyone have any cool ideas pass them on.

Little miss is good. She is all into her cowboy boots. She's likes to stuff her pants into the boots so she can show off the pink on the boots. Such a girl. She is doing well in school & reading is coming along as long as she feels confidant in what she is about to read. She gives up so fast so lots of praise & silliness to get her to try. Whatever works.

I'm trying new foods. This week I tried spaghetti squash and with some olive oil, sea salt, & pepper it was really good. Kinda sweet with some crunch. Then I put some sauce on it and that was good too. It's is loaded with nutrition and is very filling. I'll have it again for sure. Also, this week I made two a veggie soup that is really good. For those who are on Weight Watchers it is ZERO points for 1 cup. An easy way to get your veggies in. Here's the recipe if ya want to try it:

10 oz spinach, baby leaves
2 medium carrot(s), chopped
2 medium celery, ribs, chopped
1 large onion(s), chopped
1 medium garlic clove(s), minced
4 cup(s) vegetable broth
28 oz canned diced tomatoes
2 piece(s) bay leaf
1 Tbsp dried basil
1 tsp dried oregano
1/2 tsp red pepper flakes, crushed

Place all ingredients in a slow cooker; cover and cook on high power for 5 hours. Remove bay leaves, stir and serve.

Happy last Friday of January yall! Have a wonderful weekend.

Week 2

This week's goal is to workout 5 times vs the 2 I did last week. Also, to go to both workout classes this week. I didn't journal everyday like I needed too but made healthy choices and said no to some foods that came my way. I do so well when I journal my food. Tomorrow is weigh-in day. While I was listening to the radio this morning on the way back from school I got really ticked off. I guess you could say I got highly motivated by this caller who called in about us "fatties". He said he was a "gym rat" and was angry about us "fatties" who go to the gym the first weeks of the year and then quit. About how gross we are when we sweat and how we look. Man that set a fire under me. I really wanted to rip his head off. Such a jerk and didn't have any compassion what so ever! I don't know who that bozo was but what he said has made me determined to NOT be one of those "fatties" who quits for whatever reason.

Today I signed up for Pound For Pound and pledged 50 pounds. Lose weight & feed your community. Check it out http://www.pfpchallenge.com/

Cheers to week 2!

My zipper is stuck

I have felt like my zipper has been stuck for a long time. What zipper you ask? For a long time I felt this fat, fat, fat body suit on someone who deep inside is a skinny, healthy woman. I can close my eyes & picture my self unzipping the suit & stepping out a thin & healthy woman. What has been stuck in my zipper? Things from my past, self doubt, negative talk, hiding from hurt, scared to fail. 2010 is just not a year to loose the weight & have a change with my outside but inside as well. Tonight I started a workout class that meets twice a week. On the other days I'll go walk. I am committed to go & show myself I can do this. That I am a strong woman & am worth it.

Swoosh

2010 welcome. As to any new year we greet the new year ready to make a fresh start. To feel "reborn" & to work on areas in our lives we feel needs to be worked on & to begin new things we would like to do. So often we just say (talk, talk, talk) but don't do. This year I want to stop the talk & like Nike just do it. 2010 is my year. Many things I want to do & tweak. When 2011 rolls around 12 months from now I want to look back & say ya know it was a good year. No matter what happens. Good or bad. I want to be able to say & show I didn't just talk but did. God, family, health. God first & the rest will fall into place. Happy New Year!

We started back to school today. Oh boy. Tears. Tears. Lots of tears. I feel bad that I didn't prepare her. Within a few days we'll be in better shape. Back to our weekly school schedule & bedtime with this year change to having lots less time with tv. She does so well with a visual schedule. A step by step to what comes next. It feels good to say check all done. We are looking at after school activities to get her involved in. Just like any little girl she wants to be a ballerina when she grows up. She's more of a mover & a shaker so we are looking at studios that has more of dance than ballerina. We signed up at the rec center last week & they have kid things. All of us are getting more active this year.

8 days and counting....we leave one week form tomorrow! So much to do now we are completely focused on it. Ready or not here we come!

Abigail & I drove to Dallas this past weekend for a wedding. Abigail got her nails done for the first time & loved it. We got to see family & she had a good time playing with her cousins. Here are a few pics from the weekend:
